My friends surprised me for my birthday last year with this Michael Kors Frankie drawstring cross-body Handbag. They knew I love fashion and Handbags especially.
If you’ve read my previous Coach or Tory Burch handbag posts, then you know I’m more of a big sized handbag kind of girl. But a small cross body bag is a must in any handbag collection.
If you’re looking to have a small bag to run a few quick errands and don’t want to haul your house along with you ;), then this is a great option. The cross-body feature frees up your hands to go about your busy day.
If you’re like me and want to have more than just strictly your essentials then this bag is the perfect compromise. It’s small size is deceptive and you can fit a whole lot in it. The bucket shape and open top drawstring closure provide it with flexibility and give, should you need to squeeze in an awkwardly shaped item. The down side to this feature is that it doesn’t close securely so you should keep it in mind if this is something you value. the bucket shape isn’t my favorite style but it sure is handy and versatile.

Measures approximately 6″ (L) x 7″ (H) x 3.5″
Here is the list of things I fit in the bag :
– my Kindle paper white
– a small leather good : my Louis Vuitton Clé
– my keys
– my sunglasses (in a soft case)
– my smart phone : iPhone 6/Samsung Galaxy S4
– my credit card, ID card or drivers’ license and metro card
– my credit card RFID holder
– a tiny Sephora makeup bag that holds travel sized lipsticks and lip-gloss
This bag is made out of soft pebbled leather. I personally appreciate this over stiffer Safiano leather. The bright red shade makes it a standout in any outfit. Red is a great color that can be used in any season whether winter or summer.
The strap is adjustable so you can fit it to your height and frame (with a drop of about 22-25″). The inside of the bag is lined in Michael Kors logo shiny fabric. I like the fact that the interior is light so that you can easily spot your items when rummaging through your purse, granted this feature is mostly useful for bigger sized bags, but I appreciate it none the less.
It has three credit card sized slip pockets one on top of the other. This comes in handy if you don’t want to carry a wallet around or yours just doesn’t fit in the handbag. However you will need something to hold your coins, that’s where my Louis Vuitton Clé comes in handy.
The bag has gold hard ware : the Michael Kors Brand name written in gold lettering across the front. I like the fact the letters are small and discreet. It also comes with a bag charm hanging of a red leather strap from the left side of the handbag. The charm is the Michael Kors MK circular logo.
This bag is very versatile and practical. It doesn’t have any feet but for such a small bag that doesn’t bother me at all. I appreciate carrying it and love the fact that my Kindle fits in it, as I never leave the house without it. You never know when you might get stuck in a line with nothing to do :). (did I mention I’m a book worm?)
What is your favorite small cross body handbag?

Nice gift! I’d love to have a purse like that, but I can’t justify the expense. As a gift though, no problem 😀

Well me too most of the time, but it’s really nice to have a great alternative that isn’t too limiting when you don’t want to lug everything around, my friends are the best 🙂

I love the color, gorgeous bag! I prefer cross body bags as I don’t like to carry as much things when I’m out.

Thanks, I didn’t have a red handbag before this one. If you have to walk around a long time I totally agree, cross body is the way to go!

This looks like such a good bag to avoid me shoving lots of junk into my bag like I normally do!

Very pretty bag. It holds a surprising amount. What is your favourite everyday bag?

Thanks for your nice comment. It is surprisingly large for a small bag. My everyday favorite is the Tory burch York tote because I like bigger bags but having a smaller one is also a must have in my opinion. What’s yours ?

Mine is a Harvey seatbelt bag of the Treecycle pattern. I’ve had it for almost four years now and it still looks great. I’ve destroyed many expensive bags, but I have two vintage bags that are going strong: a green suede handbag and a woven cornhusk summer bag. I like a small bag except in the summer.

Haha so do I, and I never clear out my bag so a ton of junk ends up in there! I have a Kate Spade winged handbag which I love, it’s black and white so goes with everything! But I just got a really cute Accessorize backpack for Christmas as well so that’s getting a lot of use at the moment 🙂 x
