Fall is a lot of people’s favorite season as the holidays are just around the corner.
When the weather turns cooler, it’s time to ditch the beachy style and reach for your fall essentials ! Here are the ones I would recommend :
-
Boots
Nine West Boots Bye bye sandals and open toe shoes, now’s the time to pull out your boots from your shoe closet and have fun with your outfits. I’m a boot lover, whether it’s booties, ankle boots, over the knees or under the knees. Boots can spruce up any outfit and add some flare to it.
They keep your legs nice and warm even in miniskirts in the cooler weather. My favorites are Nine West boots. They are really comfortable and stylish. But I love cowboy boots on occasion ! Especially the Western Warehouse ones I bought on a trip to Dallas.
-
Body butter
Burberry Body Butter Even if you’re not one to put lotion on everyday (I’m the first to admit I’m bad at it and routinely skip this in my daily routine), it’s time to get your seasonal tube of body butter. The rich hydration will do your body good, and leave dry, flaky patches for another day. A cheaper alternative are the body butters by the Body Shop that are great value for money.
-
Foundation
Revlon Color Stay & Estee Lauder Double Wear Bring out the heavier foundation for the colder months to give your skin the added protection and coverage it craves. Don’t forget to keep your face powder nearby to maintain the matte makeup look that’s on-trend this season. So long BB creams !
-
Scarves
Home made wool scarf – gift from a friend Scarves are great for finishing up your outfit and they are so snuggly and cozy. They are adaptable as you can sport very lightweight ones when it’s still balmy such as silk scarves and really thick wool ones when it gets colder. Some are very casual and others are quite dressy. Find the perfect one for you or your current mood!
-
Tea
I’m a coffee person in the morning – no question ! But when fall rolls in, a nice afternoon cup of tea just hits the spot. You can relax in your couch with a good book or by the window or in front of your favorite tv show. My current favorite is Tazo Chai Tea. Spices are just the best this time of year ! Try it tastes great!
-
Leather jacket
Jones New York leather jacket Fall doesn’t require heavy coats usually and the leather jacket is the perfect fall item in my opinion. It helps keep the chill at bay without having to layer up too much. It can be a motor style jacket or just are regular leather jacket but it’ll give any classic outfit an edgier feel. I think it updates your wardrobe effortlessly. My favorite one is from Jones New York. Leather jackets come in all kinds of colors, so you’re bound to have on that suits your needs.

Darker lipstick
The go-to color cosmetic for Fall is a deep, wine-stained lipstick (think plum colored). Leave the rest of your makeup nude for a fresh take on the style. A good option is the Revlon lip butters in fall shade such as Berry Smoothie. They are very moisturizing and work well in the colder months. Here are some of my other favorites : L’Oreal Color Riche lipstick “287 Sparkling Amethyst” from the Brunettes collection a shimmery deep amethyst color, Hello Kitty lipstick in “07-02” a dark wine color and Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Zin a your lips but better darker color.
- Hair conditioner
If you only buy one hair product this season, conditioner is the way to go. Because strands often suffer from moisture loss during Fall, opt for a conditioning treatment at least once a week for added hydration. My favorite drugstore conditioner is the Aussie Deep moisturizing conditioner. It’s great for your hair and actually has a sense of humor ! Read the label if you’ve woken upon the wrong side of the bed, and you’ll be smiling in your shower in no time. Goodbye, frizz !

Face masks
When fall hits your skin gets confused should it keep on producing oil like in summertime? (BTW I have combo skin) Or should dry patches set up a residence on your facial real estate? The solution to that is a soothing face mask to bring back balance and hydration to your skin. My current favorite is the Clarins Hydra Quench Cream Mask for Dehydrated Skin. The scent is very subtle if you’re not into overwhelming perfumes and the texture is lovely smooth without being too rich. I use it over night sometimes. My skin loves it !

All things pumpkin !
From the PSL at Starbucks to good old plane pumpkin pie, fall is the pumpkin season for me. I love it in a nice cozy soup with coconut or in anything sweet from cookies to muffins to cheesecake !
- I had to put in a bonus fall nail color for this post : My favorite is OPI Lincoln Park After Dark from the Chicago Collection Fall 2005, it’s just the perfect complement to a fall out fit. It’s a nice deep almost black purple. Having lived in Chicago for a couple years, the name and this color is dear to my heart. In any case, I feel naked without a nail polish on my nails ! Don’t you ?
