Coach : Embossed small L-zip Wristlet reveal and review
I love SLGs they are like beautiful bag candy to me! I am weird? I can’t be the only one out there to love and collect them?!
Anyways each SLG I purchase serves at least one specific purpose in my collection. It fills in a gap so to speak. Because I highly prize versatility in a piece, as already highlighted in my review of the Louis Vuitton Clés Pochette – Key pouch, I do use my items in as many different ways as possible. But I won’t purchase an SLG if I already have one filling in its intended role, if that makes sense.
I tend to go for larger bags, that’s just my preference in style but also because I can bring a lot with me. However, when I’m at work and I need to go to a meeting a couple of floors up, or just go the our cafeteria (on the ground floor) it’s not practical to lug around a big handbag.
I needed a small wristlet that could comfortably carry my two phones (I have a work phone and a personal iPhone) my work badge and a couple business cards. I had been juggling with all these things plus my usual coffee (did I tell you I’m a coffee addict?) and my laptop at times. This was more than awkward so after a couple close calls and an actual spilled coffee I decided I had to address the situation!
I had to opportunity to check out La Vallée Village luxury outlet mall with a friend as mentioned in my Ted Baker Jewlery review. There happened to be a Coach outlet store there: I just couldn’t pass it up.
I love Coach and own a Coach tote bag (which I’ve also reviewed). I found the perfect little wristlet for my work situation :).
Two credit card pockets
Zip closure, fabric lining
Strap with clip to form a wrist strap or attach to the inside of a bag
6 1/4″ (L) x 4″ (H)
Fits an iPhone or Android
Packaged in a Coach gift box
STYLE NO. 52392
This piece retails for $65 or 58 euros. However at the outlet store it was on sale and I snatched it up for only 32.50$ or 29 euros! It comes with a drawstring Coach dustbag to store it carefully away in your closet. You also get the Coach authenticity card and the Coach care blooklet.
This SLG is crafted in embossed leather with a refined texture that’s scratch resistant. I love the burgundy color. It’s perfect for the fall season (but really any season haha) ! The silver really pops.
This thoughtfully designed wristlet is large enough for a phone, cash, cards and other essentials. It has two credit card slots just like a WOC or wallet on chain would. That’s a great feature as it saves extra space. Each slip pocket is actually easily stretched and I can fit at least 2 credit cards in each slot and three would fit no problem.
Because the slip pockets are made of fabric and not leather you don’t have to worry about “over” stretching them or having them become too loose.
I use the first one for my work badge and the second one to store my business cards so I always have them on hand when I need to give them out. I used to forget them before a meeting at least half the time. Now they are always with me.
The strap is not detachable, but I don’t mind because I want and use it as a wristlet.
This wirstlet is very slim, which is what I wanted, but its dimensions are deceiving as you can fit more than you would think. I love keeping my handbags organized either with an organizer (check out my review) or with smaller pouches in them, but some pouches can be bulky which I’m not a fan of…
Both my phones fit in it with their bulky Spigen cases. Now I own the iPhone 6, so I know neither the iPhone6 Plus nor the Galaxy Not 7 with the exploding battery haha , would fit. But I’m sure Coach has a wristlet for the bigger phablets.
I can fit a pen or a lip product on top of my phones.
What I really appreciate with this wristlet is the zipper opening. First of all the zipper tab is leather, which is a nice touch. Then the zipper itself is quite smooth, so no need to tug. The zipper is in silver hardware and Coach New York is engraved on the pull.
But my favorite feature is that the zipper goes slightly down on the sides of the wristlet creating a much wider opening, and making it super easy to get things in and out of this wristlet despite it being quite narrow. I just love this, and it’s the reason this wristlet is called the L zip !
I wanted a discreet wristlet that would look inconspicuous in a business meeting. But I still needed it to hold my essentials.
I can actually put a pen on top of my phones and close the wristlet nicely with no tugging on the leather or the zipper.
A dogleash clip on the strap ads versatility making the strap removable should you wish to use it as a clutch or a wallet. I don’t see myself removing the strap, which is the reason I bought this piece. I need to be hands free to carry my coffee and my files or laptop.
This SLG wouldn’t be a signature Coach piece if it didn’t come with an embossed hangtag charm in order to finish it with Coach’s iconic signature style.
The hardware is silver on this SLG, and even though I usually prefer gold, I find silver to be more casual. And casual is what I was aiming for here, so it’s just perfect.
This never leaves my handbag any more! I just love this handy and beautiful SLG!
