My September favorites – 2015

It’s the beginning of October already, so it’s the perfect time to talk about my September favorites. September was a great month, I got to see friends and have fun with this blog!

Here are my top 10 favorite things for the month of September :IMG_7827

  • Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle

I have super sensitive lips and finding a lipstick that doesn’t make my lips peel or is comfortable wearing is a lifelong quest haha ! I love that the Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters are the perfect cross between a chap stick and a lipstick. They are very hydrating and a pleasure to wear. I like their shiny finish and they last ok for a moisturizing product when most just slip right off your lips.

100315_1305_MySeptember1.jpgPink Truffle is the perfect “my lips but better” shade for me : Nude with a bit of mauvey brown in it. Perfect for fall! I had to repurchase this month, which goes to show it truly is a favorite.100315_1305_MySeptember2.jpg

  • Bioderma Eau Micellaire : Sebium H2O

This is my go to make-up remover. I use it every day as it is very gentle on my skin. I use the blue bottle for combination skin as opposed to the regular pink bottle for normal to dry skin. My skin might be oily but it is dehydrated at the same time and I don’t like using any harsh cleansers that strip my skin and make the oiliness even worse. My skin is sensitive so I don’t like to wash it twice every day and use a liquid cleanser only once a day. At night I use the Bioderma even when not wearing make up.

However this is a micellaire water or Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution, so do bear in mind it won’t be strong enough against waterproof mascara or liner. If you’re wearing a lot of eye makeup, I would recommend a water proof eye make up remover like the Take the Day off by Clinique. And I usually follow up with a toner which helps clean the skin as well for those who worry Bioderma isn’t enough. I use the tea tree toner from the Body Shop. You get 250ml for 7.29€ which is a really good price in most French pharmacies. It’s a little pricier for those who live outside of France.100315_1305_MySeptember3.jpg

  • Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment cream

I’m big on moisturizing some parts of my body haha! My lips for sure and my hands as well. I wash my hands a lot and can’t stand the tight feel you get after your hands are wet. I got used to putting hand cream on after washing my hands when I was living in Chicago because the offices had hand cream dispensers in the rest rooms. Once tried, I was hooked! Now I have to have my own hand cream as it’s not commonly found in Paris rest rooms.

This is one of my favorites as it isn’t too heavy and does the job well. When you need to be typing away at your desk job, you can’t have sticky fingers. This had softens hands but also protects them again the drying effects of the sun, cold weather and hard water. It also helps minimize the look of age spots for those who have that issue. What really sold me on it tho, was that it conditions the nails. And I love my nails and try and keep them in tip top shape. You get 100 ml or 3.4 oz which is a nice amount for 22,50€ o $30,00 at Sephora.100315_1305_MySeptember4.jpg

  • Sephora Oil Blotting papers : put an end to shine !

I have combination skin and my T-zone can get very oily especially during the hot summer months. Constantly reapplying powder can end up making you look cakey -which is not a cute look ! The god-sent answer for me is : blotting paper !

I discovered this when I traveled to Japan in August 2007. All the girls had these paper sheets and were constantly using them, in between a few swipes of their pretty fans. Now I’m never without these. And with 50 sheets for 5.95€ or 8$ it’s definitely worth it at Sephora. What I love about this product is the powdery touch to the sheets. No worries however they don’t leave any residue.100315_1305_MySeptember5.jpg 100315_1305_MySeptember6.jpg

  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Cocoa infused powder enough said. Chocolate and make-up : what better combination could any girl ask for ?! I love this bronzer because it’s matte which is perfect for my combination skin. Don’t want shine unless I put it there ;). I think it has the perfect shade selections from shades for fair skin, to medium skin tones. I use the medium/deep when I still have a bit of my summer tan.

This is a mini travel sized version but I have the full size in my Too Faced Sweet Dreams limited edition palette.

  • PSL : Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

This is my favorite Starbucks drink of all time ! I wish it was a permanent drink and didn’t come around only during the Fall. As soon as it’s out, I’m in line :).

I always encourage my French friends to try it out – with limited success I must admit – as pumpkin is not a usual taste in French cuisine, at least for sweet things.

  • Estée Lauder Double Matte Powder

As mentioned earlier in this post, I have combination skin so I need a powder to touch up during the day if ever the oil blotting sheets aren’t enough.

This Estee Lauder powder is very finely milled, so it never gets cakey on your skin and leaves your skin still looking like skin. It’s in pressed form so very easy to take with you in your purse and touch up on the go. It has a nice big mirror too. What I most like about it though, is the simple fact it really works and lasts a very long time. I also love the Rimmel Stay Matte powder but it definitely doesn’t work as well on my skin type. I also like that this powder controls oil but doesn’t dry out your skin at the same time, which is pretty rare. Usually when an oil control powder works, it ends up causing dry patches in certain areas which is not something I’m fond of :). This is the perfect balance of efficiency and comfort. You get 0.49 oz for $33.00.

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture World Traveler Palette

A friend visiting Paris from Chicago gave me this palette during the month of September and it’s been a favorite ever since. It’s so versatile as you can do a very neutral eye look as easily as a dark and smoky one. I love the warm shades that make it must have for Fall. I did review on this palette too.092715_1727_Palette5.jpg

  • OPI Tickle My France-y

I usually change out my mani every Sunday, but I’ve worn this shade for two weeks straight, which is something that never happens for me ! It’s the perfect nude shade on the pinky mauve side. It was also a gift from a friend in Marseille. Can’t get over how much I love this shade. It’s very office appropriate but you can definitely bling it up as shown in my Favorite nail combo of the moment post.FullSizeRender

  • Bumble & Bumble Prêt-à-Powder

Maybe this is TMI but I have an oily scalp so I find I love dry shampoo and texturizing powders that can spruce up a hair do : add volume and refresh your hair at the same time !

This is a great powder that actually does work. It’s white when it comes out of the bottle but it becomes translucent, unless you apply way too much of it ! You get 56 g or 2 oz of product for 29.95€ or $27,00 at Sephora.IMG_7818Links to my favorites :

  1. Super liste !
