In this back to school or back to work season, finding the perfect work handbag is high on the priority list of to do’s.

My pick is the Tory Burch York Buckle Tote or Sac Cabas à Boucle York. The tote bag is the perfect work bag as it has a large opening in which it is easy to put things in and lets you have easy access to all your necessities. I hate bags that are complicated to get into and I can be lazy and not zip a bag up just for the convenience of getting inside it quickly which can be a security hazard, haha! So don’t do as I do! This bag is mostly open so no problems here.

I chose the “Luggage” color which is a nice medium brown perfect for fall . It goes with everything and will be classic for many years. I love the sleek lines of this elegant tote. It is streamlined and made with scratch resistant Saffiano leather. This makes the bag very durable because, let’s get real here  : who wants to have to baby a work bag or worry about lugging it around to school, college or work? No worries here. I’ve waited a couple months before reviewing this hand bag so you I could really let you know how it works for me. I haven’t been gentle with it and it’s holding up perfectly. Another advantage is that Saffiano leather is stiffer and holds its shape. This can be a drawback if you like the slouchy look, which I admit is my usual preferred style. But for work having a bag that screams business is not a bad thing by any means.

The York comes in several sizes and I bought the largest one : It’s the perfect size if you like big bags but it’s not too big.

It has a fully padded zippered compartment the Tory Burch website claims it fits a 15″ laptop. Well, I own a 17″ Sony Vaio laptop and it fits perfectly in there as well! That was one of the reasons why I was hesitant in purchasing this handbag. I loved that it was specifically tailored to carry a laptop but I like big screens and 15″ just doesn’t cut it for me. I still caved and bought it for all of the great features it has and was then pleasantly surprised when my laptop fit it!

Now bear in mind once the laptop is in the compartment, the charging cords don’t fit and you have to put them in the open compartments on either side of the zippered one. Speaking of which, the one in front is pretty big and the Tory Burch website  even claims it can hold a pair of shoes. Well I tested that claim out with a pair of Tory Burch Caroline wedges (haha ! Are you sensing a theme in this review?), when I had to walk a lot once out of the office, and they definitely fit in the handbag without showing out of the open top. This middle zippered compartment is very handy even if you don’t cart around a laptop, as you can use it secure important items. On a day to day basis I usually keep my Michael Kors wallet in it.

The front compartment has two open pockets one is pretty slim and can hold up to an iphone 6s with a slim case (it’s a tight fit with the case, I have a Spigen Aircushion 4.7″) and the other one is a lot larger and can hold a Kindle or an iPad or any other smaller electronics you might want to carry. I keep my Kindle Paperwhite in there (It’s 6.7″ x 4.6″ x 0.36″ or 169 mm x 117 mm x 9,1 mm). It also has a D-ring next to the open pockets to attach a matching wristlet or any other SLG that strikes your fancy such as the Louis Vuitton Pochette Clés. I love D-rings, they are so handy especially with a tote style bag that can often times turn into a big black hole where all your belongs are no where to be found ! This way you can easily get a hold of your wallet if you need to pay.

How ever the York bag is in no danger of ever becoming a bottomless pit such as some tote bags like the Coach one I’ve reviewed, as it comes pre-organized another strong quality that had me purchase it and not regret it.

The second open compartment is in the back and also comes with two open pockets but also has a closed zippered one as well. The two open pockets are the same size and can also hold smart phones, even the bigger sized ones such as the iPhone 6 plus or the Samsung Galaxy S 6. The zippered compartment is quite large as runs along most of the back of the bag. It can keep your coin purse, ID and other valuables nice and safe. Next to the zippered purse the York also has a handy clip for your keys so you don’t spend minutes digging around for them.

The handles are long enough that you can wear the bag on your shoulder, which is a must have for me as I’m not into carrying bags in the crook of my arm. I think it’s not convenient especially if the bag is heavy. I’ll only do it for short periods of time if my hands are doing something else at the time. This bag is very light weight which is another plus. However the handles are very slim and while that doesn’t bother me on my shoulders it does pinch in the crook of your arm. The other down side is because they are so slim I don’t see them holding up very well over time if you tend to over stuff the bag with heavy items. On the good side, the buckles aren’t just for show and are really adjustable which I love!

All in all, it is very thought out and functional while maintaining a very chic aesthetic. The gold hardware on the buckle and Tory Burch logo is discreet and elegant. It’s the perfect complement to a business woman  or college student. I think it can double up as a great travel bag too, even though it doesn’t have any feet on the bottom.

It retails for 295$ or 285€ on the Tory Burch website and comes with a dustbag. It’s a very decent price for a higher end handbag. It can hold alot. I just love it !
